DO I NEED PRIOR COACHING EXPERIENCE?
It's helpful, but not at all necessary. The program is built to be comprehensive enough to stand on its own, but it can also be a wonderful supplement to your already existing life (or other) coaching practice.
WHAT IS THE TIME INVESTMENT?
Most of our students should spend 3-4 hours a week in our curriculum, videos, and supplemental readings. We'll have 1 - 1.5 hours per week of teaching and discussion, and you'll have homework, reading, and other assignments in between.
WHEN DO I GET TO START CLASS?
You'll get access to orientation as soon as you register! Then the first module will open up in one week's time.
To give you time to get through the material, new modules are released weekly.
IF CLASSES AREN'T LIVE, HOW DO I MEET OTHER COACHES AND GET SUPPORT FROM YOU?
Don't worry - you will be surprised at how much interaction there will be with the other SCA coaches and with me. When you join this cohort, you'll get on a total of four small group calls with me (every two weeks while you move through the 8 week program) As a student, you'll also be able to attend six months of our monthly Coaches Corner calls to meet other coaches and ask any questions you may have about the curriculum. (with an opportunity to extend your access at the end). You'll also have 24-7 access to me and the other coaches inside our private coaches community during the duration of your time in the program.
HOW LONG IS THE PROGRAM?
Our certification program is 8-weeks long followed by an assessment week and final certification for a total of 10 weeks. But we know life can get in the way. You can go through it at your own pace - you have access to the coaches community for six months to give you all the time you need!
ARE THE COURSE VIDEOS CAPTIONED OR TRANSCRIBED?
We want the certification program to be accessible to absolutely everyone. So we will have captions and transcriptions available.
DO I HAVE TO BE A STEPPARENT TO COACH THEM?
While we feel like having the stepfamily experience is a huge advantage when you're coaching them, you don't necessarily have to be in one.
Our curriculum will give you the overview and substance to understand the unique challenges that stepfamilies face so that you can approach coaching them with knowledge and empathy.
WHAT IS THE INVESTMENT?
Many coaching programs charge well into the five figures for their certifications. While we're providing over $11,000 in value to our students, we also wanted to be sure the Academy was accessible to as many future coaches as possible.
So although we cannot guarantee future pricing, right now the investment is $1997 (there is a payment plan option available).
ARE THERE ANY OTHER EXPENSES I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT?
The only additional expense you'll be responsible for is ordering the SCA's textbook. It's available on Amazon for less than $40.
MY STEPFAMILY ISN'T PERFECT. HOW CAN I POSSIBLY COACH OTHERS?
Not having a "perfect" stepfamily is actually an asset for you as a coach. Your clients will value your experience and the fact that you've been in their shoes.
And to be clear . . . no stepfamily is perfect - and you don't have to have it all figured out. Getting certified will give you a ton of tools that you can apply in your own family while you learn to help others.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRAM?
Not gonna lie. This will take work. But the payoff is soooo worth it. To graduate, our students must:
• Complete assessments throughout the course and pass a final certification test with at least an 80%.
• Participate in an observed coaching session or submit a peer or client coaching video.
• Complete an interview demonstrating an understanding of the material.
• Read and agree to our Code of Ethics.
